Frosted Cupcakery Review - Long Beach

So today, I went to Frosted Cupcakery on 2nd Street in Long Beach. The storefront was super cute!

The yelp reviews said to try the red velvet cupcake.
They have these things called hi tops that are basically muffin tops with cream in the middle, like a cupcake sandwhich. We got the salted caramel one and the red velvet one. I got the chocolate coconut cupcake, just because I love coconut!

First of all, the person who helped us was not very nice. :( What a way to ruin a great cupcake experience. Oh well, all can be salvaged by a beautiful cupcake right?

We tasted the caramel hi top first. UGH! SO SWEET! like sugary sweet. The cake part tastes a little salty, almost like corn bread, while the frosting was sticky, sugary, buttery sweet. It was just too much.

My friend tried the red velvet hi-top and said it was much better. Unfortunately, I didn't get a taste of that one :(

On to the Coconut Chocolate cupcake!

Okay so it's pretty, and comes in a little holder so it doesn't get all over the bag. Smart.
I personally like toasted coconut, so I'm a little sad. No worries. Upon first bite, it's really sweet. Again with the sugary sweet frosting. The chocolate part is a little dry, but I guess the frosting helps with that.

On the whole, pretty disappointed. But it's just my taste becuase I'm not a big fan of sugary sweet frosting. 2.5 out of 5.0.

  2. Aww I'm sorry you didn't like it. I love Frosted but then again I've only gotten one flavor there - strawberry!! It's amazing. So good that I don't want to try any other flavors! Haha. I first tried them at my friend's wedding (you know Natalie, right?) and then we went to the cupcakery together after last year's convention. But at least now I know to just stick with strawberry! Thanks for the good tips. ;]
