Black Seafood Paella, Macarons, and Red Velvet Cake

Have you ever tried squid ink? We tried this place at the Farmer's market at the Grove. They have regular Seafood Paella and also this Arroz Negro which is the same thing but with squid ink. I thought it would be grayish, so you can imagine my horror when I saw this come out.

We pretty much just stared at it, stared at each other, then stared at it again. I ventured a bite.. and it was scary to even put in my mouth. Thankfully, it was delish!
If you close your eyes and eat it, it's suppppper good. HAHA
It comes with a side of garlic sauce/paste. We had to get more. The dish is really buttery and good. It had shrimp, scallops, mussels, and they were all very generous portions. Sharon looked over and me and just cracked up. This stuff is messy! Don't get it on your clothes. I dropped some on my skirt, but it came out with some cleaner. I'd still be careful.
They also have an angel hair pasta with seafood and squid ink. We'll try that next time. Oh, the price was $16 and was more than enough for both of us - and we had been starving.

Of course, french macarons. We ordered a Hazelnut truffle and this salted caramel. Sorry I don't have a picture of the other one cuz we just devoured it before I remembered to take a picture. The hazelnut truffle one is REALLY good! You can totally taste the truffle, but it's not overpowering.
This salted caramel one is great too. Honestly, I think this place has some of the best macarons I've ever eaten, and I've had a LOT. They are $1.75 each, so a little pricey, but they are a little bigger and much fatter than other places. And the texture is perfectly chewy. The filling is soooo good, and not overbearingly sweet.
The Little Next Door

Salted Caramel Macaron
Right down the street or next door is this place!
They are famous for their red velvet cake.

This thing is huge! It's $6 for the individual cake. I think it's worth it because it's about the size of at least 3 cupcakes, and 3 cupcakes would be $9. The cream cheese frosting is really cream cheesy. HAHA that sounds funny. But the cake! OH THE CAKE. So moist! and together they are heavenly.
Red Velvet Cake
What better way to eat red velvet cake than with a glass of milk? (I'd usually get coffee, but it was already 7 so I didn't want to mess up my sleep.) Ahhh so refreshing and delish. This was so rich and flavorful, that I only ate this much!

Sharon had the rest for breakfast this morning. :D
